SHOW NOTES:
This was one of the most fun, and the ONLY BIZARRO interview I have had yet. Tom is a fabulous guest, and a great author. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as we did.
We discussed:
What is Bizarro fiction, and what it isn’t How Tom got into Bizarro fiction via Bizarro Central How an online writing workshop launched his current book, Pax Titanus Bizarrocon in Portland- the event in 2014 and what might happen in 2015 The hotel where Bizarrocon is held, Edgefield Manor and it’s Bizarro history What the Bizarro community is like Tom’s book, Pax Titanus- the cover-the story-how the writing went-and how Tom invented his own Nanowrimo in July What being a writer is and why having fun is important How the reviews of Pax Titanus have been going Why handing over your work to someone for review is hard Why writing is different from other creative endeavors Is acceptance and rejection really the same thing? How getting physical can help quell writer’s fears Was Tom’s rejection a record-breaking event? Why Tom is envious of plumbers and why there is hope for us as writers
ALSO in this interview Tom gives the best writing advice ever! Find out what is the greatest thing a writer can embrace but you have to watch the video! This is must see stuff.
He refers us to Kevin Donihe’s book, Space Walrus, as a good example of Bizarro fiction
