What kind of hobbies do you have?
A question I hear a lot from readers

I guess it goes without saying that I am a writer so reading is a favorite pastime of mine. This writer loves all sorts of books, including romance, fantasy, historical, sci-fi, horror and mystery, so, of course, I try to write in all genres, too. As my fan and follower, you will already know that. So, no news there, but reading is one of my preferred hobbies.
It was from this love of reading that I found myself desirous of writing. In my lifetime, I have read so many lovely works that it would have been a miracle if I DIDN’T try to write one.
OTHER HOBBIES
I also love to do needlework, or crochet. I learned how to do embroidery from my sister and my mother, and am self-taught about crochet. That is one hobby that I could stand to learn more about. Really don’t do fancy stitch in crochet simply from a lack of knowledge. I know of a local group who meets at a nearby library on Friday evenings to crochet or knit and who are willing to teach and share. Might have to pencil in a time or two. I could see this needle-craft stuff becoming a big addition to my hobbies.
Some hobbies sort of lend themselves to writing. They get your imaginative juices flowing and you will find yourself immersed in a story and going at it in your head. Painting is one of those. I love watercolor and would do that more often if I was any good at it. No formal training, so no formal achievement. I just love to slosh colors on canvas, I guess.
I also love to art journal, and journal in general. It really helps to get my thoughts down on paper. Since I am (ahem) of an age where writing out stories in longhand was common, I still do that only in a different form, that of keeping a journal. I love to decorate them also, hence the art journal mention. Drawing in a journal and writing in one have over the years become a big time member of the HOBBIES list.
