Resurrect the WOOLLY MAMMOTH!!!

Resurrect them, I say!
And how that statement pertains to my writing life 🙂
So, you have likely, by now, heard about the scientists who are trying to bring back the woolly mammoths from extinction. They left our world around 1700 BC although some people have timed it at 10,000 years ago.
And they want to bring it back, because, well, why not? We need to resurrect these behemoths to reverse global warming. Or so they say…
But–you ask–what has that to do with your writing, Kim Smith?
Everything.
And nothing.

I mean, come on…there are so many dead tropes out there. Couldn’t we resurrect one of them? I mean, westerns used to be so popular back in the 70s. Everyone knew who Louis L’Amour was. WE all had at least one of his books on our nightstand. Oh, and chiller-ific horror, like the old S. King. Where are THOSE books? How about EPIC fantasy? Like Tolkien wrote? There are SOME of us who still want to read those (glare going to NY publishing).
Can’t someone resurrect that sort of book? Or another? I loved historical romance! Bring back the sweeping saga!!! The family saga that spans decades of tragedy and … whatever.
It will do a lot to change the temperature of America if we have new/old books to love. It ain’t global warming but some of yall folks are definitely frosty!
So, that’s it. I think some woolly mammoths of books should be returned to life. Get out there. Get busy.

I’m with you on the old school chiller-ific books! They are among my favourites to read for sure.
