Hobby or habit, we all have them
If all I did was write all day, I wouldn’t have to write this post. Now don’t get me wrong, I love writing. Since beginning this journey in the early 2000s, it has been the guilty pleasure of my life. It gives me an outlet for all my creativity.
But I have another interest; one that tickles my artistic side. A hobby or maybe it’s a habit? Either way, it’s what I do when I am not doing what you know that I do. It’s photography;I love taking pics especially of close up stuff. Sometimes I wish I had become an pro at it. But come on, do I really see myself bent over a computer all the live-long day editing hundreds of images? No way. If I have to be behind a computer, I need to be writing.
I also love consignment stores and those wicked wicked dollar barn places where you have to really dig around to come up with the treasure. My friend, Marjorie, is even better than this than I. She’s amazing at finding a real find.
It’s a knack, but it’s also a hobby.
I don’t really display a lot of my stuff either, which is strange. I collect old porcelain dolls of … well, old people. I know I know. Too weird for words.
If you have ever gone garage sale shopping and brought this “cannot live without it” item home only to shove it under the bed, well, you get me, you really get me. I buy books a lot of the time to read…and yes, they end up under the bed too. Like this one:
I have said all this to say that authors (including this one!) are just regular people along with the fact that they write books. They write, shoot pictures, bargain hunt, and read. At least that’s what I do. I think most of us do the same stuff-we LIVE our lives, right?
So, my questions for you today is, what hobby do you have? What do you enjoy doing in your spare time, something that really jazzes you?
Share in the comments! You never know…it may show up in a book one day!
