How being a pet mom taught me to write better

I have been a pet mom for all of my life, I think. My first dog was a collie. I had him back when I was in middle school. I have downsized in dogs since then. I recently caught myself scolding my little Chihuahua the same way most mothers scold their child. “Now don’t you drag that mess out in the middle of the floor again,” said I. Chihuahuas are sort of peculiar when you say things sharply to them. She looked at me with her sweet little head cocked and proceeded to do just whatever she wanted to. She’s

Mini-con wrapup

Mini-con wrapup

The MINI-CON was a HIT! Good morning, friends! Today is the day after the mini-con that my mastermind group, Desoto Writers Alliance, put on at the library. It was SO MUCH FUN! If you were a part of this event, thank you from the bottom of my heart for attending. It was the first of our efforts to bring together writers, aspiring and otherwise. Weekly links: Mixed bag of goodies

Weekly links: Mixed bag of goodies

Good morning, lovelies! It’s a mixed bag for links this week. There is some stuff about Valentines Day (sorry, I know it’s over) and there is some stuff about blogs, stuff about technology, etc. It’s just fun to click a link and magically get transported to someone’s blog and see what they are talking about, isn’t it? I am going to try to get a real blog post up here soon. I have a lot to share, but just no time to share it! I also hope to be updating the website soon, so be sure to look for new

Writing a novel first draft via Nanowrimo

Some of us have already ended Nanowrimo, and some of us are about to do so with the close of November. No matter if you have succeeded with the 50,000 words or not, we all have gotten SOMETHING on our work accomplished and isn’t that the whole purpose? This post is for those who are now holding that precious first draft. Rock on, you writer, you! GIVE IT A WHIRL I made my own story a nemesis this month by writing something from the seat of my pants, no outline, no idea what it would be. And it is a

Don’t quit working your day job, yet

Don’t quit working your day job, yet

It’s been a while now that I have been posting this blog and working toward a lifestyle reboot, using the Internet. Within the months, I’ve learned so much about running an online venture,  content marketing, and how to be profitable in all of it. Not only that, I’ve learned a lot about myself, as well. Although I love what I do, and feel very fortunate to be where I’m at today, working online does have it’s drawbacks. Now, you may be wondering why on earth I’m writing about reasons NOT to do what I am doing. Well, I think it’s noteworthy
