Balancing life and writing

So many of my writing friends have the same problem. How to balance writing and life-the kind that isn’t related to writing. Finding time to write, setting goals, etc. can really take a hit when things in our other world tilts a little.

Whenever a writer has a full plate already, those little tilts in life can totally upset the writing apple cart. Sometimes it is an easy fix. Sometimes it is a matter of getting a babysitter, enlisting the aid of a spouse or parent, referring to a critique partner. But sometimes we don’t have resources to rely on. Sometimes it is beyond our means to fit it all together.

So, what does a writer do when life intervenes and they can’t get their writing on track?
