- a sliver of sunlight
A Sliver of Sunrise
Through curtains it flowed. A sliver of sunlight. It traveled like liquid gold from the window from where it started down in the midst of dust motes. It trampled across the buff-colored comforter and slithered onto the bed. Then as abruptly as it began, the darkness overcame it and it disappeared. Only to reappear in infinity inside the mirror on the dresser. It greeted me with a smile. I rubbed at my eyes, momentarily blinded by its brilliance. A sliver of sunlight has mighty great powers. It came into the empty room and made me smile in greeting.
